Associates Degree
The Benefits of An Associate Degree
The associate degree has distinctive earning potential in the job market.
According to the Department of Labor, jobs created between 1984 and 2000
will demand higher level skills. Employers hire two-year college graduates
knowing they have the training necessary to do the job. Some companies
have tuition reimbursement programs to help students earn their college
degrees.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
An Associate Degree with a concentration in accounting and finance will
qualify you for junior accountant positions in corporations, government
agencies, schools, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, banks, insurance
companies, brokerage firms, real estate, and other financial institutions.
Career opportunities in management include: small business management,
personnel manager trainee, computer operator, office management, entrepreneurship,
and government agencies. Marketing covers many areas in sales, media, real
estate, and advertising and public relations.

SUCCESS STORIES
"After I received my associate degree in business management technology,
I was promoted to office manager at LaRussa Italian Food where I prepare
sales presentations and design labels, coupons, and flyers. The courses
in the associate program helped me improve my communication and computer
skills, and I now have a better understanding of accounting procedures.
I am currently enrolled in the baccalaureate program where I will earn
an advertising art degree." --Jane Garchar '95
"My associate degree enabled me to obtain my position as treasurer of
the Poland School District. It also laid the foundation for me to earn
a baccalaureate degree after legislation was passed that made a four year
degree necessary. The baccalaureate degree served to enhance my abilities
for my position." --Donald Stanovak '96
