Where do students work in Kilcawley Center?

Kilcawley Center announces annually that student employment applications will be taken each November and again in April for possible upcoming student positions.  The Kilcawley Center Staff office will give out applications until positions are filled or a large applicant pool has been received. Watch for NOW HIRING posters in the Center and ads in The Jambar.

Now taking application for POSSIBLE openings at the:

        • Kilcawley Set Up Crew
        • Office Student Positions

Some positions may require training in early January. Applications will be available in the Kilcawley Staff Office beginning Tuesday, November 15, 2009 until all positions are filled. Applications will be kept on file until February 15th. 'Open' positions are not known at this time. Job descriptions and skills needed are listed below for each position.

    Basic Requirements for Employment

    Current students who are in good standing and who are registered for six or more hours for Fall 2009 semester are eligible to apply.

    Students on academic PROBATION OR WARNING cannot be considered for student employment.

    Student Wages

    $7.30 per hour.

    Candy Counter
    Student Job Description

    Must be customer service oriented, friendly, reliable, on time daily to work, and able to learn a basic cash register.
    Other duties include stocking shelves, organizing stock room, receiving shipments, cleaning candy jars, shelves, glass units etc.

    Candy Counter is open 7:30am to 8pm M-Thur. and Friday 7:30am to 5pm.  Saturday hours 8AM TO 2PM rotate between student staff—approx. one Saturday every 4 -5 weeks.  During the summer Candy Counter is open 8am to 4pm M-F.
    Additional training hours will be given based on student’s availability.

    Hours:  Generally 10-16 per week

    YSU Info &
    PC Lab

    Student Job Description

    Must be customer service oriented, friendly, reliable, and on time daily to work.

    Assists users of IBM compatible computers in a lab environment.  Able to give advice on Microsoft Office XP [Excel, Word, Power Point]. Provides support for a full range of activities at YSU Info & PC Lab including operating laser jet printers, FAX machine, cash register, etc.  Good knowledge or basic understandings of computer word processing skills, spreadsheets, desktop publishing software beneficial, and a willingness and aptitude to learn software programs. Ability to address questions and assists users of the Lab in these programs and basic computer operations.

    Saturday hours may be needed. Additional training hours will be given based on student’s availability.

    Set Up Crew
    Student Job Description

    Assists in the set-up preparation of all conference facilities in Kilcawley Center and its surrounding outdoor areas for meetings, banquets, workshops, lecturers, conferences, performances, etc.  Activities include, but not limited to, opening rooms, setting tables and seating, sound systems, etc.

    *Must be able to able to lift and move heavy objects of 50 to 60 pounds.

    Seeking a student who is customer service oriented, friendly, reliable, and on time daily to work.  Physical moving of heavy furniture, boxes, and equipment required.

    Specific days and hours open on the work schedule not known at this time.  Rotating weekend hours.  Additional training hours will be given based on student’s availability.

    Graphic Services
    Student Design Assistant
    Job Description

    *Must have completed design and layout basic courses and have knowledge of layout principles.

    Must be friendly and customer service oriented, with good work ethics including being reliable and on-time daily to work. Assists in computer design of flyers, banners, posters, ads, logos, etc.  Other support activities include, but are not limited to, laminating, balloon sales, and ringing register. Must have basic knowledge of, and proficiency in Windows based desktop publishing programs, and aptitude to learn the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
