The Reading and Study Skills Center (R&SS) is an academic as well as a service-oriented division of the Counseling Department in the College of Education at Youngstown State University. The staff, instructors, and Peer Tutors in the Reading and Study Skills Center

• provide a variety of strategies for improving reading and studying.
• encourage students to choose study techniques appropriate to their needs.
• help students to understand that building reading and study skills provides high returns for their investment in study time.
• help students improve performance in academic classes.

2. self-referral tutoring--individual tutoring with a trained Peer Tutor
3. workshops presented throughout the semester on a variety of topics
4. informative printed handouts available free of charge at the R&SK Center
