LYRE Center Assistant

The Center for Literature for Young Readers (LYRE) will hire an undergraduate student for each academic year to aid in the general management of the Center.  The assistant will work under the supervision of the LYRE director and will do a variety of organizational and research-oriented tasks, including the following: 

bullet

Assist in planning conferences, seminars, workshops, and lectures sponsored by the Center;

bullet

Assist in publicity and promotion of the Center’s programs;

bullet

Maintain the LYRE website;

bullet

Participate in grant writing and other fund-raising activities;

bullet

Assist in developing our book collection, housed in the CRC, including ordering books, identifying gaps in the collection, making recommendations for purchasing decisions, receiving books from publishers, and maintaining a database of the collection;

bullet

Assist in research conducted by any of the Center faculty.

The Center’s assistant will also have the opportunity to work directly with the researchers, authors, illustrators, publishers, and other personnel in the field who are associated with or visit the Center.
