Grades are based on the following scale:

30 % Class participation (journals, discussion, group project #1-- leadership of discussion on assigned film)

30 % Group project #2: 30-45 min. presentation/discussion on your film choice

40 % Research paper

Written work is to be typed.  I reserve the right to refuse to accept late papers.

Attendance is important in this class. More than three unexcused absences will result in the reduction of your final grade by one letter.

Goals of the course:

1. To screen several classic Hitchcock films.

2. To develop a vocabulary and methodology that will enable you to discuss and analyze films.

3. To become familiar with the basic tools of film research.
